Etsy Product Sync

Foote and Flame had a website, but also a storefront on Etsy.

One of the ways we gained additional exposure was by having multiple listings on Etsy. In the case of Foote and Flame, we had a separate listing for each cake topper design.

But suddenly you've got over 100 cake topper designs online. You've changed your colour selection or the standard price; how do you update all 100+ listings?

Enter the automation

Etsy has an API. This means we can programmatically interact with it.

We modified the website to be able to store additional text specific to Etsy listings, with some complex "boilerplate" includes for things that were the same on each listing.

Then, when we changed something on the website, it automatically knew the matching Etsy listing and then updated the content there too. It pulled in photos, prices, available colours, and more.

We also had a mode where it could create new Etsy listings too - meaning adding a new cake topper to the website would automatically create a corresponding listing on Etsy with all the correct details.

The result

The automation saved us a lot of time, and allowed us to quickly manage hundreds of listings on Etsy. Without it, we would have been battling multiple versions of listings, outdated prices and colour lists.
